Announced yesterday morning by Xbox Live Director or Programming Larry ?Major Nelson? Hryb, the Xbox 360?s motion-based peripheral, Kinect, has received a price cut of $40. The Kinect is available for $110, effective immediately, and includes Asia Pacific and Latin American regions, in addition to North America.
The price drop isn?t without a few caveats, however. The cut will not affect European or Japanese markets, and doesn?t include Kinect for Windows.
Given the sparsity of Kinect-enabled games and the impending next generation of consoles, it makes sense for Microsoft to try and eke out a few more last minute Kinect sales. Having already set the Guinness World Record for ?fasted-selling consumer electronics device,? it?s safe to say that the Kinect was a pretty popular piece of tech. Unfortunately, with such hot bangers as Kinect Star Wars and Penguins of Madagascar: Dr. Blowhole Returns Again!, the quality of games available hasn?t been able to match the device itself.
